Who are we, you ask?
Aetherstitch is a story-first, character-driven roleplay community within Final Fantasy XIV, designed for adults who crave immersive, meaningful storytelling. We’re a small collective of writers and roleplayers who care deeply about character growth, emotional complexity, and the connections that form between characters over time.
While we absolutely enjoy the magic and mystery the game offers, we don’t focus on power fantasies or combat-centered narratives. You won’t find overpowered protagonists or endless sparring tournaments here. Instead, our stories explore the more profound moments; trials of the heart, bonds forged in hardship, the weight of past wounds, and the delight of small, human joys.
We welcome those who enjoy layered, long-form roleplay and are excited by collaborative world-building, moral nuance, and character development that unfolds slowly and intentionally. If you're looking for a cozy but mysterious corner of Eorzea where narrative and connection take center stage, you may have just found your thread.

It isn’t just about the stories we tell in character. It’s also about the friendships and creative connections we build out of character. We value collaboration, mutual support, and the kind of shared inspiration that makes writing more fun.
Community Guidelines
21+ ONLY. All players, characters, and NPCs must be 21 years old or older. We do NOT permit child NPCs within this community. If your character has children, please ensure they are safely located elsewhere and do not bring them into RP here.
Be Respectful. If you have nothing nice to say, then don't say anything at all. Harassment, hate speech, bullying, or disruptive behavior is not tolerated.
Don't be a creep. We are a roleplay community. This is not a dating hub. No one wants to send you nudes or see yours. Don't slide into anyone's DMs being gross.
Communicate openly. OOC conflicts may arise. You are expected to approach conflicts calmly. If you need help, reach out to a mod. Do not create drama.
Do not share inappropriate content. This includes, but is not limited to, graphic or explicit images or descriptions of underaged or dubious aged characters (including lalafell, loli, shota, etc.), abuse or harm of animals, extreme violence, etc.
Do not discuss OOC hot button topics. This is not a place to discuss real world politics, religion, or other topics that are known to be polarizing.
Don't fuck with the vibe. Even if you do not explicitly break a rule, our mods reserve the right to check in with you (and potentially remove you) if you disrupt our peace or enjoyment.
Media Content
Do NOT share explicit or graphic images of lalafell or dubious aged characters. If characters appear young, even if they are not, you may NOT share explicit images of them here.
Do not share images that contain nudity, sexually suggestive poses, violence, or potentially triggering topics in sfw-screenshots.
If you share images that are potentially triggering, they must be spoilered and include appropriate trigger warnings. This includes images containing violence, bodily fluids, extreme kinks, etc.
Roleplay Etiquette
The House is IC 24/7. If you visit Aetherstitch, be aware that it is an IC setting. Even if you do not have the RP tag up, you are expected to remain IC while visiting.
The House is a MATURE setting. We do not restrict the type of RP that can take place here, including mature themes and sexually explicit RP. Be aware that you may walk into any flavor of RP if you visit. You may also see nude characters, who feel at home in their skin. This is NOT an invitation to solicit sexual RP. NOTE: We ask that lalafell do not engage in sexually explicit RP in our house or on our discord.
Be Considerate of On Going RP. If you walk into RP that you do not enjoy or that makes you uncomfortable, please excuse yourself and come back later. If there is RP currently taking place but you do not wish to join in, do NOT disrupt it. However - be mindful of scheduled events. Rooms may be reserved ahead of time. Check the discord events listing.
Third Person, Narrative Writing. Please do not write in first person while RPing with others in the community. Dialogue is indicated by quotation marks.
Use OOC (( )) to indicate OOC comments. If you need to say something OOC while engaging in RP, please place all OOC comments between (( )). We ask that you refrain from being OOC comments unless absolutely necessary. In most cases, it is more appropriate to use tells.
No God Moding. You may not control another characters' actions or outcomes without their players explicit OOC consent. Such consent must be obtained PRIOR to taking any such action.
No Metagaming. Information learned OOC cannot influence IC actions. Your character cannot know private information just because you - as they player - knows it. You may obtain permission from the player(s) whose characters the information relates to, but this must be given clearly and prior to the use of any such information.
Clear IC/OOC Separation. As a player, you are an observer. Actions in RP are not happening to YOU as a person. And likewise, OOC interactions do not dictate what will happen IC. You are expected to keep firm IC/OOC boundaries here. This includes being open and willing to discussing RP happenings in a direct, mature, and thoughtful way.
Consent First. Always. Any action that breaks IC consent requires EXPLICIT, DIRECT, and CLEAR OOC consent BEFORE the RP takes place. Do not make assumptions. Do not be shy. Consent requires both parties to cooperate and discuss.
Character Requirements
While all adult characters are welcome to visit us, we do have restrictions regarding the type of characters we wish to regularly engage with.
The following types of characters MAY NOT join as Attuned Threadseers:
Canon characters. From any franchise, tv show, movie, game, book, etc.
God like characters. Including Ascians, Ancients, Voidkin, Primals, or other godlike races or beings, from this setting or others.
Strictly ERP/Fetish characters. We insist that all members have fleshed out characters with complex motives and history. Characters that are blatantly created to be fetishized take away from the RP experience of others.
Welcome, traveler. You were expected.
How, you ask?
Well, have you ever felt a little tug at your sleeve when no one was there? Not the wind, not a person, but something else entirely. A gentle pull, like a thread winding itself around your thoughts. Maybe it led you through a dream, or whispered from the pages of an old book, or came as a sudden itch in your feet that said, go this way. And so, here you are.
You were expected, yes, though not in the way of prophecy or fate. More so... an inevitability. Some threads are just too curious to leave alone.
Come in. The fire is warm, the tea is steeping, and the books have been known to shuffle themselves into the hands of those who need them. The walls here remember things. Not everything they say is useful, but they do enjoy being listened to. Feel free to wander. Secrets tend to find those who look with wonder in their eyes.
You are not just anyone. People like you don’t end up here by chance. Look around. Every face you meet carries threads of their own, tangled and brilliant, waiting to cross with yours. So go on. Follow the pull. Let the house get to know you.
Welcome to the Aetherstitch.
The Aetherstitch
The Aetherstitch is a mystery. It appears to be a benevolent, sentient cottage - alive, yet without a clear voice. Those gifted with sight for unseen threads describe it as vibrant veins running through every wall, floor, and beam of the house, filling the space with color, texture, and quiet magic. It does not speak in words, neither audibly nor telepathically. Instead, its communications manifest subtly; shifting decor, notes in careful hand writing, cryptic messages carved gently into walls that repair themselves moments later.
The true nature and origin of the Aetherstitch remains unknown. No texts clearly explain and none currently alive have history or memory of its beginnings. However, clues hint at the presence of past Threadseers who once inhabited this space, their histories and fates as enigmatic as the Aetherstitch itself.
Those who feel particularly drawn to this magical presence may choose to attune themselves to it. Attunement does not grant supernatural abilities, but it deepens the bond between the Threadseer and the Aetherstitch, and thereby creating bonds with all others who are also attuned.
OOC Details
Be aware that these details are not immediately known by your characters and should only be incorporated into your roleplay with sound reasoning and discussion. These details are merely provided to help with an OOC understanding of the concept.
The Aetherstitch itself is not the cottage structure, but rather a convergence point of fate, drawing a particularly dense flow of aether to its core. Characters gifted with aethersight would perceive it as an overwhelming anomaly of aether, otherwise undefined. Although it occupies the space of the cottage, it extends beyond it.
It is important to note that the Aetherstitch is not a primal or deity. It does not demand worship, nor does it compel obedience or devotion from those who choose attunement. No character will ever be tempered by the Aetherstitch. Any attempts to push the roleplay in that direction will be redirected.
Many mysteries surrounding the Aetherstitch remain intentionally unanswered, encouraging exploration, curiosity, and discovery.
Threads & Threadseers
Many naturally associate threads with Nymeia, given their intuitive connection to fate. Yet, those who witness the threads understand they extend beyond simple destiny. Threads symbolize profound connections spanning past, present, and future. They appear as a natural phenomenon - streams of energy flowing between meaningful moments, with few restrictions bound by time.
Often, threads shine brightest between living beings who share strong emotional bonds, though, intriguingly, threads may also weave connections to objects, locations, or even the most simple creatures.
Threadseers are those who possess the unique ability to perceive these magical connections. How someone becomes a Threadseer varies greatly. For many, it stems from some version of the Echo, though others might discover entirely different means to this awareness.
Each Threadseer's experience of the threads is personal and distinct; some clearly visualize them whole others may only sense them intuitively, feeling rather than seeing their presence.
And, even among those who visualize them, their experience is unique. Where one might see a bond of love represented as a red thread, another might view it as pink, gold, or even a blending of the individual aether of those sharing the bond.
Many Threadseers feel a deep calling toward the Aetherstitch, yet choosing attunement is entirely personal. It is a voluntary vow and does not change their inherent abilities.
OOC Details
In our roleplay, threads represent flows of both aether and dynamis, manifesting as connections between everything in existence. The strongest and most visible threads connect living beings, through significant interactions, relationships, or repeated engagements with objects and locations. Threads may also be used as a form of spell work, if one gains the knowledge of altering, manipulating, creating, or otherwise tampering with the threads in some way. We extend threads beyond the simple notion of fate, inviting characters to explore and interpret them uniquely.
We intentionally kept the concept of Threadseers flexible, welcoming any player who wishes to incorporate or adapt these ideas within their roleplay. Although we've tailored this idea for our community, we are well aware that similar concepts already exist. We are not "reinventing the wheel" but rather giving the wheel a fun place to turn.
Attunement
Attuning to the Aetherstitch creates a special connection between a Threadseer, the Aetherstitch itself, and all other attuned Threadseers. Unfortunately, one must be a Threadseer to attune.
Attunement unlocks several unique opportunities:
Access to the Grimoire: A magical tome filled with wisdom, secrets, and creativity - one which every attuned Threadseer may leave their mark upon.
Personal Chambers: A private living space within the cottage. It most often appears as what one needs rather than what they want. ((If you add a character to the FC you can create this, but even if not - you can include it as part of you RP.))
The Cross Stitch: A unique method of communication which allows messages, thoughts, and emotions to flow between attuned Threadseers across any distance.
The ritual of attunement itself is intimate, personal, and deeply symbolic. It requires another attuned Threadseer to guide the initiate through the process. During the ritual, threads are woven intricately between both Threadseers and the Aetherstitch. Once established, these connections are difficult to undo without causing harm - both to oneself and potentially to the Aetherstitch. The ritual culminates with a distinctive stitch appearing on the back of the hand of the newly attuned Threadseer's dominant hand.
While the rituals differ depending on the guide's personal skills and preferences, all share common elements:
Weaving of threads. The necessary establishment of a meaningful bond.
Combining of fate. Creating purposeful intersections between lives.
The vow. A solemn promise to follow the threads, unravel their mysteries, and make corrections where necessary.
OOC Details
If you are curious or wish to pursue attunement, we encourage you to reach out and talk with us directly. We have no desire to gatekeep. Attunement can be facilitated by any already-attuned community member.
However, we are deeply committed to the quality and depth of storytelling within our community. Simply expressing OOC interest isn't enough. We need to see evidence that you've thoughtfully considered how your character will fit within this lore-rich setting. And, we must see active engagement in RP.
In short, attunement is not simply a status. It is an active, intentional part of the stories we write here. Having a character become attuned is a sign of your intention to contribute to our shared writing experience in a meaningful and intentional way.
